IRA Rollover Provision Extended Good news! The IRA Rollover Provision has been extended for two years and is retroactive to January 1, 2008. That means, for donors age 70½ and older, all gifts up to $100,000 transferred ("rolled over") from an Individual Retirement Account (IRA) to a charitable organization are exempt from taxable income. As you review your estate plans, you may want to consider the tax benefits of making a gift to support Concordia Historical Institute. For more information, please contact our business manager, David Rutledge, at 314-505-7940 or by email.

Finding CHI during Highway Construction Beginning on December 15, 2008, the portion of I-64/Highway 40 between 1-170 and Kingshighway will be closed through the end of 2009. Visitors who are driving to the Institute on the Concordia Seminary campus can take advantage of the mapping/directions feature provided by the Missouri Department of Transportation just prior to their departure from home to visit the Institute. This mapping/directions feature may be accessed at this Web Page. Concordia Historical Institute regrets any inconvenience our visitors may experience during this massive construction project. For further assistance in planning a visit, please call (314) 505-7900 or click here to contact us by email.

CHI Museum Construction Progress Activity has picked up significantly in recent days on the installation of the CHI Museum at the LCMS International Center. The selecting of artifacts and writing descriptive text has been completed, and the designer and fabricator are hard at work putting everything together with the goal of a summer opening. At right is a section of the Reformation room depicting Martin Luther at the Wartburg Castle and his Bible translation work. Below is the ship Hualco, on which some of the "Old Lutheran" immigrants from Prussia came to the U.S. Below left is a section of the Immigration room showing the routes of the various immigrant groups that made up the Synod.
